So many people are hurting, feeling lonely, frightened, and perhaps, insecure. This could be any one of us at any time. I know when I get overwhelmed with life or anxious about…well…you name it: finances, children, grandchildren, husband, friends, parents, health, siblings…it helps to have a listening ear, hopefully attached to a loving friend. We need to make time for one another, to be the loving friend.
Related to our being with one another, we are also called to be with God. At the end of my emails I have added the words of Blessed Mother Theresa of Calcutta;
"We need silence to be alone with God, to speak to Him, to listen to Him, to ponder His Words deep in our hearts. We need to be alone with God in silence to be renewed and to be transformed. Silence gives us a new outlook on life. In it we are filled with the grace of God Himself, which makes us do all things with joy."
~~Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Don’t be afraid to seek God because God is just waiting for you. In fact, God is already with you! Our spiritual ears, eyes and hearts need to be open to hear the voice of God’s love. And that voice will lead us and give us all that we need.
“[R]enewed and transformed…filled with the grace of God…[to] do all things with joy.” We don’t stay apart with God, we bring God with us to be with and minister to one another. Our human love is so limited but God’s love is living and endless. We fill up with the love of God and bring it as a gift to those with whom we live, work, study, and care for. Sometimes we are the giver and sometimes we are the receiver and in both cases we are blessed.
Loving Father, we ask you to take away our fear of approaching your awesome depth of being. Help us to grasp how much you want to love us and how much you want to give us an abundance of gifts, gifts to be shared, gifts to restore the your kingdom to its original grace. Help us to open our hearts to receive these gifts. Help us to believe that, “…for God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) and that we are called to be your love in the world. Amen
